When I was offered the chance of joining the Swimkidz team in the spring of 2013 as a teacher, I jumped at the opportunity to do a job that would give me a sense of enormous satisfaction and help provide parents and their young families with the knowledge and support of a vital life skill… Swimming!
As a parent at the time to a ten-year-old daughter, India, who had found learning to swim up to that point quite difficult, I soon realised that had she been in lessons since birth, she needn’t have had all those years of water anxiety!
Three and a half years on, I now have a second daughter Mabel, she has been coming to our classes since she was twelve weeks old, and at little over a year old now, she absolutely loves the pool, engaging in the classes, the songs and social aspects of our baby and preschool program, furthermore, India has also gone on to be a very competent swimmer, which has helped increase confidence and self-esteem in all aspects of her life!
Coming to Swimkidz has been like coming home for me, from the first class I watched, through the excellent and fun filled training program, to the support from my colleagues. It has been a fantastic journey, one I am still on.
I now have three and a half years’ experience of teaching all levels of swimming, from baby and preschool, to beginners and high levels swimmers. I have recently taken my tutors qualification so I can help train new teachers coming on board, and provide them with the same knowledge and enthusiasm that was passed on to me.
Every day when I turn up for work, I am filled with a great passion for what we do, and that is, to provide families with a safe, progressive and fun environment, and to have their children achieve everything possible within the swimming world.
Swimkidz has given me the chance to do something I love for a living, I wouldn’t change my job for any other on earth, the children we teach, the parents we guide, give back everything we put in and more.
